SIBU (July 7): KPJ Specialist Medical Centre here will hold two mobile vaccination programmes as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) for those aged 18 and above.

Its medical director Dr Wong Chya Wei said the programmes would be held on two weekends (July 10 and 11) at Medan Hotel in Jalan Wong King Huo and on July 17 and 18 at Li Hua Hotel in Pulau Li Hua here.

He said the centre was committed to support the government in getting as many people as possible for vaccination to achieve herd immunity.

“We hope to vaccinate 2,000 people this weekend and another 2,000 the following weekend.

“The programme will focus on residents in the surrounding areas and also others in our targeted group,” he told a press conference held via Zoom yesterday.

Dr Wong also said the programme was a collaboration with Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Dudong branch, with the Health Ministry providing the vaccines.

Sibu Municipal Council’s Public Health Standing Committee vice-chairperson Councillor Jenny Ting said the targeted group this weekend would be workers from the food and beverages sector, beauty and hair salons and reflexology centres.

She urged individuals from the targeted group who have not received their vaccine to register for the programme here.

“Those who have registered at the link provided must bring their original identification document on the day of the programme.

“We do not accept walk-ins or replacements,” she said.

She also said they would help to register those wanting to be vaccinated during the programme though the vaccination slot would be based on vaccine availability.

Also joining the virtual press conference was SUPP Dudong chairman Wong Ching Yong.
