IPCC Bill among 5 put on hold until next Dewan meeting

KUALA LUMPUR: The Independent Police Conduct Commission Bill (IPCC) 2020 is among five bills initially scheduled for today that have been postponed to the next meeting of the Dewan Rakyat.

The other bills which were due for their second reading are the Windfall Profit Levy (Amendment) Bill, the Occupational Safety and Health (Amendment) Bill, the Factories and Machinery (Repeal) Bill and the Malaysian Space Board Bill.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Takiyuddin Hassan, who tabled the motion to postpone the bills, said another five bills, including the Temporary Measures for Government Financing (Coronavirus Disease 2019) (Amendment), will be debated and decided upon before today’s sitting ends.

“Regardless of the previous motion moved on Tuesday, and in accordance with Standing Order 12(1), I hereby propose that today’s sitting will not be adjourned until all debate is concluded and amendments to the Sales Tax (Amendment) Bill 2020, Service Tax (Amendment) Bill 2020, Tourism Tax (Amendment) Bill 2020 and Cooperative Societies (Amendment) Bill 2020 are decided upon,” he said.

The motion was seconded by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Special Functions) Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof.

The Dewan Rakyat meeting ends today.
