MIRI (June 29): An Indonesian couple was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here today with murdering their fellow countryman last month.
However, no plea was taken from the couple; Madali Basri, 44 and his wife Asmira Kadir, 38 from Rapang Desa Andau, Sulawesi after the charge was read out before senior assistant registrar Eleanor Mako Timothy.
The couple was charged with murdering 30-year-old Mohd Kasya Bambang at a fertiliser’s store in Ladang Asco Green Sdn. Bhd, Sg Liam Bakong on May 6 at around 5.30pm.
The charge, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 34 of the same code provides for the mandatory death sentence, upon conviction.
The court set July 23 for further mention of the case at Marudi Magistratre’s Court.
No bail was granted to the two accused.
