MIRI (June 26): The IKBN Miri Vaccination Centre (PPV) operation time has been standardised to operate with the same operation hours with other PPV here starting today, which is from 8am to 8pm.

According to the minister-in-charge of Miri Disaster Management Committee (MDMC), Datuk Lee Kim Shin, this was done for the people’s convenience so that they won’t get confused.

“This takes into account the fact that it will start administering the Sinovac vaccines tomorrow (today), which is expected to involve more recipients.

“The deadline at 8pm will provide opportunity for recipients who arrive late in the afternoon to receive the vaccine, and also to provide ample time for the staff to complete their tasks by end of the day,” Lee said when contacted after visiting the PPV yesterday afternoon.

Meanwhile, MDMC in a press statement, said the IKBN PPV which has been operating from 8am to 5pm, had until yesterday administered up to 9,900 AstraZeneca doses.

However, starting today (Saturday), the new operation time will be from 8am to 8pm, administering only Sinovac vaccines.

The PPV coordinator, Dr Kang Tzin Rong, said 800 doses of Sinovac vaccines would be administered daily at the PPV as a start. The number may increase to 1,200 a day if there’s a need.

Acting Resident and MDMC chairman Abdul Aziz Mohd Yusuf; divisional health officer Dr. P Raviwharmman Packierisamy, director of Miri Hospital Dr Jack Wong Siew Yu: and acting district officer Geraldine Janely Doris Peter Kulai were among those present during Lee’s visit.
