KUCHING (June 1): A funeral ceremony in Kampung Siol Kandis, Petra Jaya here has sparked the latest Covid-19 cluster declared in Sarawak, according to a statement by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) today.
Dubbed as the Lorong 3 Kampung Siol Kandis cluster, SDMC revealed that a funeral wake held at the village followed by a burial ceremony from Jun 2 to 4 had cause those who attended the event to get infected.
A prayer ceremony held on Jun 12 following at the same place also contributed to the declaration of the cluster.
“A total of 123 individuals related to the cluster have been screened and there 45 positive cases, including the index case, detected from this cluster,” added SDMC in its daily report.
