Good news, DOTA 2 fans.
Other than playing the game, you can soon watch an anime about it in an eight-episode series brought to you by Netflix!
Titled DOTA: Dragon’s Blood, the fantasy series tells the story of Dragon Knight — a character in the game — who is also called Davion.
In a press release made available to SAYS, the streaming platform said that Davion is devoted to wiping the ‘scourge’ from the face of the world.
“Following encounters with a powerful, ancient eldwurm as well as the noble Princess Mirana on a secret mission of her own, Davion becomes embroiled in events much larger than he could have ever imagined,” read the synopsis of the series.
Showrunner and executive producer Ashley Edward Miller said fans will love how they have reimagined the DOTA 2 universe to create the adult-oriented story
The series is said to be ‘epic’, ’emotional’, and will feature fans’ favourite characters.
“The cinematic animation, acting, and music are simply next level and I’m grateful to Valve for supporting our creative ambitions,” said Miller, who co-wrote the screenplay of X-Men: First Class and Thor in the past.
Studio Mir is responsible for the animation of the series and they are the same South Korean animation studio that animated The Legend of Korra — the follow-up series to Avatar: The Last Airbender.

It is unknown at this point how many heroes or characters in DOTA 2 will get screentime in the anime
DOTA 2 — or Defense Of The Ancient 2 in full — is a multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game played by millions worldwide.
There are 120 heroes in the game. Among them, only 20 heroes are of the human race, while the rest come from 43 other races, according to Dota 2 Wiki.
Some heroes have intertwining heritages or are interracial, such as Dragon Knight — a human who can turn into different elements of dragons as he progresses in levels during the game.
Based on the 53-second trailer, he can be seen approaching a yellow dragon that resembles the first form of his ultimate ability Elder Dragon Form.
Before DOTA 2 was developed by Valve, the first edition of the game was a custom game built inside Blizzard Entertainment’s Warcraft III.
The heroes there share the same avatars as the characters in the Warcraft universe. The saga has lore that spans over 25 novels. In 2016, Hollywood even made a blockbuster movie of the game with the same name.
Seeing as there are countless backstory entries on each hero, character, and item on Dota 2 Wiki, it is very likely that DOTA 2 also has a rich lore that not even hardcore fans would know of.
The anime series will premiere on 25 March.
