DALAT (June 25): Dalat District had started its outreach programme to vaccinate a total of 487 longhouse folks at Ulu Baoh today.

According to Minister of Welfare, Community Well-being, Women, Family and Childhood Development Dato Seri Fatimah Abdullah, the outreach programme would take two days.

“Today, the outreach team started their journey to Ulu Baoh by land at 5am. The vaccination process will be carried out at seven longhouses starting today involving 200 residents, and tomorrow they will move on to the remaining eight longhouses involving 287 residents.

“The outreach team from Dalat comprises of medical frontliners and non-medical support staff,” she said.

Fatimah, who is also Dalat assemblywoman, said once the vaccination programme in Ulu Baoh is completed, the outreach team would then proceed to Narub in Klid and Ng Baoh using river transportation.

“At the moment, they are still working on the schedule and logistic for the vaccination programme at Narub in Klid and Ng Baoh. However, it all depends on the availability of the vaccines.

“The availability of the vaccines will determine the schedule,” she added.

In the meantime, Fatimah said, the vaccination centre (PPV) at the Dalat Stadium would be functioning as usual.

“The vaccination process at the Dalat Stadium and the outreach programme are being done concurrently. Hopefully, we can achieve herd immunity by early August.

“However, that would depend on the availability of the vaccines,” she said.

Fatimah also thanked all the team members for their commitments and dedication in ensuring that the vaccination process could go on smoothly.

On a related note, she revealed that a total of 12,412 people in Dalat district were eligible to be vaccinated.

Currently 11,468 individuals or 92.4 per cent of the total have registered for vaccination, she said.
