Covid-19: Almost 4,000 Kpg Tabuan Lot, Kpg Tabuan Tengah villagers screened following increase in cases there

MOH frontliners are seen busy taking particulars and conducting swab tests of the villagers.

KUCHING (July 13): Almost 4,000 people from Kampung Tabuan Lot and Kampung Tabuan Tengah have undergone Covid-19 swab tests following Active Case Detection (ACD) programme carried out at the two villages.

Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas) in a report today said the ACD is necessitated due to increase in Covid-19 positive cases there since last week.

Quoting Demak Laut assemblyman Dr Hazland Abang Hipni, the report also said Ministry of Health (MOH) is conducting the ACH for four days starting July 11 until tomorrow (July 14).

“So far, more than 30 cases have been reported (in these villages) last week. So, the next step is to find other cases that had yet to be detected,” said Dr Hazland, adding the combined population at these two villages is about 4,000 people.

Dr Hazland also commended the approach by MOH to implement the ACD on a large scale in order to identify other positive cases of Covid-19.

“Taking into account the duration of 4 days of the ACD program, this means an average number of 1,000 people have to be tested every day.

“Therefore, residents in both villages have been asked to cooperate to ensure that active cases are identified in order to curb the spread of Covid-19,” he said.
