Covid-19: 365 new cases, one death in Sarawak

KUCHING (July 4): Sarawak recorded 365 new Covid-19 cases today with 59.73 per cent or 218 cases detected in the districts of Kuching, Sibu, Tatau, Saratok and Meradong, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC).

It said in its Covid-19 daily update that the latest figure brought the cumulative number of cases in the state to 66,561.

“Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 64 followed by Sibu (54), Tatau (42), Saratok (31), Meradong (28), Telang Usan (24), Kanowit (19), Miri (18), Bintulu (14), Serian (10), Kapit (8), Sri Aman (7), Bau (7), Samarahan (7), Mukah (6), Subis (5), Betong (4), Pakan (3), Julau (2), Sarikei (2), and Simunjan (2).

“Nine districts recorded only one case namely Kabong, Tanjung Manis, Marudi, Tebedu, Bukit Mabong, Selangau, Lundu, Sebauh dan Song,” it said.

It also said that the state had recorded one Covid-19 fatality involving a 59-year-old woman from Kanowit who was found positive on July 1 and had died at Sibu Hospital.

“The victim had a history of hypertension and dyslipidemia,” it added.
