Covid-19: 171 new cases, 2 deaths in Sarawak today

KUCHING (Feb 28): Sarawak recorded 171 new Covid-19 cases along with two deaths today, said the State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in a statement.

This brings the total number of positive cases in the state to 9,545 cases and Sarawak’s Covid-19 death toll to 83.

According to SDMC, the 82nd death involved a 78-year-old local woman who was admitted into the Bintulu Hospital after complaining of breathing difficulties.

She was found positive for Covid-19 on Feb 16, and her health continued to deteriorate before she died on Feb 27.

She had existing comorbidities such as high blood pressure, diabetes and kidney failure.

The 83rd death is related to the Pasai Cluster, said SDMC.

It involved an 80-year-old local man who had been admitted into the Sibu Hospital after he was found positive for Covid-19 on Feb 29 following an active case detection (ACD) operation.

His health continued to deteriorate, and he died on Feb 27.

The man had existing comorbidities such as high blood pressure, diabetes and prostate cancer.
