JOHOR BAHRU: A policeman has been arrested for driving against the traffic flow along Jalan Lingkaran Dalam here at 12.30am today.

The traffic cop is also suspected to have been under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Johor police chief Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay said police received a video on the incident and a team from the Johor Bahru Selatan Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division arrested the 24-old-year-man at a petrol station nearby, where it was found that he was a policeman.

“The man, who was off-duty and driving his own car, was believed to be under the influence of alcohol,” Ayob Khan said in a statement, adding that the case would be transparently investigated and the man would be charged in court.

“Johor police will not compromise and we will take stern action against any police personnel who breaks the law.”
