By now, you’re probably familiar with the conspiracy theories that have been peddled about 5G and Wi-Fi and how their signals can harm a person. Some parties in the US are preying on that fear and are selling Faraday Cages, designed specifically for routers. Yes, really.
For the uninitiated, a Faraday Cage is designed to block electromagnetic radiation and to prevent signals from escaping. In this context, these con artists are selling the cages to a gullible clientele, with the promise that their cages will block all “harmful signals” from their routers, and only allowing “safe” Wi-Fi signals to pass through.
The reviews that followed were unsurprising. Yes, the Faraday cages definitely blocked their router’s Wi-Fi signal, but they also dampened signal strength and, concurrently, internet speeds. To add insult to injury, some of the cages being sold are poorly designed and fairly expensive.
So apparently putting Faraday cages around routers has become a thing for the 5g conspiracy nuts and there are companies out there ready to cash in.

We understand that the word “radiation” has a tendency of ringing alarm bells and raising concerns. But it is important to understand almost everything in this world emits a certain type of radiation, many of which are harmless to human beings.
In the case of Wi-Fi transmissions and 5G, both wireless signals emit a non-ionizing form of radiation. Meaning that it doesn’t produce enough energy to make the electrons split from atoms. If it did, we’d probably be looking at Chernobyl-level scenarios around the world.
