The management of a condominium in Ampang, Selangor has issued a fine to a one-year-old child for not wearing a face mask inside the lift
According to a notice issued to the parents, the management said that the child is being penalised with RM100 for violating “the House Rules” of the condominium on 22 February.
The management attached a screenshot as proof, stating that the parents are “required to settle the above fine within seven days from the date of this letter”, dated 23 February.
The notice along with the screenshot and WhatsApp conversation between the parents and the management was shared on the Facebook page of Info Roadblock JPJ/POLIS yesterday, 25 February.

The person also argues that COVID-19 doesn’t see age.
Contrary to the management’s claims, however, kids aged two or under don’t need to wear masks.
Additionally, they also do not have the authority to impose fines on residents who violate standard operating procedures (SOPs) with regards to the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act
Such fines can only be issued by the Ministry of Health through the police.
According to Senior Minister (Security) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, the authority of the management of condominiums, apartments, or any office is only limited to maintaining and managing the property.
He said that what the management did in the Ampang condominium case is wrong.
“So I hope they withdraw the RM100 compound,” he said during a press conference on the development of the Movement Control Order (MCO) in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
