Compounds totalling RM91,500 issued for various SOP violations in Sibu

SIBU (July 4) Police have issued 27 compounds totalling RM91,500 for various violations of the standard operating procedures (SOP) under Phase One of the National Recovery Plan (NPR) in Sibu yesterday.

Sibu police chief ACP Stanley Jonathan Ringgit said the compounds were issued during an integrated SOP compliance operation conducted at a few places here.

He said five of the compounds of RM10,000 each were issued to three factories at Jalan Ding Lik Kong and Sungai Bidut here.

“Three compounds were issued to the electronics, plywood and plastic factories for their failure to comply with the allowed workers’ attendance and two compounds were issued for not providing MySejahtera QR code or manual log book at the workplace and canteen,” he said in a statement.

Stanley said the joint operation was conducted by the police together with members of the armed forces, Sibu Municipal Council, Sibu Rural District Council, Immigration Department and Labour Department.

“They were divided into two teams namely the manufacturing and factories sector led by Sibu Crime Prevention and Community Safety Division head DSP Ariffin Bahar and general SOP team led by ASP Kushairy Bujang, he added.

He said the general SOPs team had issued 22 compounds during their inspections in the town area.

“Six compounds of RM1,500 each were issued to six individuals in two cars for breaching the allowed passenger capacity without valid reasons.

“Another 16 compounds were issued for organising a social activities at a premises without practicing physical distancing whereby 15 individuals were compounded RM1,500 each.

“The premises owner was issued a RM10,000 compound,” he said.
