CMVT arrives in Ba Kelalan to carry out Covid-19 vaccination drive in rural Lawas

CMVT arrives in Ba Kelalan today to carry out Covid-19 vaccination starting tomorrow.

MIRI (June 21): A Combat Medic Vaccination Team (CMVT) arrived in Ba Kelalan today to carry out a Covid-19 vaccination drive there and in Long Semadoh.

Limbang Resident Ahmad Denney Ahmad Fauzi who is in charge of Limbang and Lawas districts told The Borneo Post today that the CMVT, which consisted of two doctors and seven paramedics were flown into the hinterland using an armed forces helicopter.

“The vaccination drive for rural Lawas will kick-start tomorrow starting with Ba Kelalan which is going to take place at the Buduk Nur Ba Kelalan Community Hall.

“The CMVT, to be assist by Ministry of Health (MOH) personnel at the location, will be in Buduk Nur for two days until June 23 to vaccinate about 600 people,” he said.

After Buduk Nur, Ahmad Denney said the team will move using four-wheel-drives (4WDs) to Long Semadoh, which is located about an hour’s from Ba Kelalan.

He said the CMVT will be in Long Semadoh for two days until June 25 and they are expected to vaccinate 873 people.

The team is expected to leave Ba Kelalan on June 27 to another location in the state.

The mobilisation of CMVT is one of the strategies to accelerate the vaccination under the Covid-19 National Immunisation Programme for those staying in the the rural areas in the state.

On another note, Ahmad Denney revealed that as of June 17, a total of 10,239 people has received their first dose of Covid-19 vaccine in Limbang, while 5,605 people completed two doses of the Covid-19 vaccine in the district.

“As for Lawas, a total of 11,956 had received their first dose as of June 17, while 4.374 had completed their vaccinations,” he said.

A total of 40,797 people are eligible for Covid-19 vaccination in Limbang, while a total of 33,126 people are eligible to be vaccinated in Lawas.
