KUCHING (May 18): A taxi driver pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here yesterday to pimping a foreign woman.
Lim Sheaw Kee, 50, was charged under Section 372A of the Penal Code, for living on or trading in prostitution of a 25-year-old Indonesian woman.
The offence was allegedly committed at around 2.45pm on May 2, 2021 at a hotel in Jalan Song Thian Cheok here.
If convicted, the accused faces up to 15 years in prison and whipping, and also liable to a fine.
Judge Maris Agan set June 10 for case management and allowed the accused to be released on bail of RM3,000 with one local surety.
The accused was also reminded by the court to seek the services of a lawyer during or before the next mention of the case.
The prosecution was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor Ruthra Raj.
