KOTA KINABALU: An upcoming book about 100 inspirational women in Sabah is not only a recognition for the women’s achievements but it also reflects the Government’s appreciation towards the contribution and success of women in the state, said Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Hajiji Noor’s wife, Datin Seri Juliah Salag.

Juliah who launched the coffee table book on Monday, said the book will be an interesting read as it depicts the journey of the 100 inspiration women portrayed.

“Persatuan Industri Kecil dan Sederhana Wanita Sabah (IKSnita) must be praised for the effort put in with Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) to come up with this publication,” she said.

Speaking at the launching of the book and the state-level International Women’s Day celebration, Juliah said the book was timely as it will aspire and inspire women in Sabah to work hard towards success.

She added that there are many successful women in Sabah but their achievements are not known to many therefore the book will introduce them to the younger generation.

Juliah also urged women in Sabah to always be sensitive to changes, grab opportunities available, increase knowledge and participate in programs organised by the state government.

“The theme of the International Women’s day celebration this year is ‘Choose To Challenge’. This is apt with the challenges we faced, especially the Covid-19 pandemic,” she said.

Juliah said that women also have an important role to play in curbing the spread of Covid-19 and that is to ensure that their family members comply with the SOP.

Also present were pesident and founder of IKSnita, Datuk Dg Haja Khatijah Datu Haji Bachtiyal and head of SIG-GPWISes, Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Sabah, Prof Madya Dr Rozita @ Uji Mohamed.
