SIBU (July 11): The mobile vaccination centre (PPV) at Tiong Hua zone has administered 980 doses of Covid-19 vaccines since it started on July 2 to date, said Sibu Divisional Disaster Management Committee (SDDMC) member Senator Robert Lau.

The mobile PPV is a bus from University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) that is parked behind Rejang Medical Center (RMC) here to provide vaccination to residents.

“Today is the last day for the mobile PPV to be stationed behind RMC.

“We are still working out the next stop for the mobile PPV,” Lau told The Borneo Post today.

He pointed out that the mobile PPV was a different approach to fast track the vaccination process.

“It is a different approach. Instead of registering with MySejahtera or filling in the form and waiting for appointment for vaccination, we took the proactive step of going to the worst zone in Sibu by asking those who haven’t been vaccinated to come out for vaccination with an appointment date and time.

“Most of them been scheduled to the jab the next day. We noticed more than a quarter of those not vaccinated have not registered either through MySejahtera or filling in the forms,” Lau revealed.

He believed there are still a lot more of this group of unvaccinated people staying in this zone, as they only covered a few roads within this zone.

“There is another big area that has not been covered door to door and that is zone 5 (Tung Hua).

“This area (from Jalan Wong Soon Kai to Jalan Tekam) has the same group of people like those at Tiong Hua – the rural urban migrants,” Lau reckoned.
