KOTA KINABALU: A new cluster was reported in Sabah today – the Kuala Punteh at Keningau.
Local Government and Housing Minister, Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun said that the new cluster showed an increase of seven Covid-19 cases bringing the accumulated number of cases to 25.
He said that the index case was first detected via screening for hospital admission at a medical facility in Keningau on February 26.
He said in a statement today that upon investigation, the index case acquired the infection from household members who attended Chinese New Year reunion dinner on February 11, Chap Goh Mei on February 26 and a gathering held in conjunction with the start of paddy harvesting on February 14.
“Close contact screening is ongoing by the Keningau Health Office,” said Masidi.
Meanwhile, 97 new Covid-19 cases were recorded yesterday bringing the total number of Covid-19 cases in Sabah to 53,313 cases.
No deaths were reported today.
