3,834 low income households in Pakan to receive food baskets

SARIKEI (June 11): A total of 3,834 families from low income B40 households in Pakan constituency will receive food baskets from the state government under the Sarawakku Sayang Special Assistance (BKSS) programme.

Pakan assemblyman Tan Sri William Mawan Ikom said the eligible families consisted of 3,012 households from longhouses under Pakan District Office and 822 households from longhouses under Sarikei District Office.

He said the food aid has already reached 949 households from 55 longhouses.

“Distribution process had started on June 9 and I believe by the middle of next week the food aid would be delivered to all the recipients,” he said.

The aid in the form of essential food items included rice, sugar, cooking oil, and noodles.

Mawan said the food baskets aim to alleviate hardship caused by the Movement Control Order (MCO).

He advised those with enquiries on the aid to contact his service centre on 019-8367465.

Mawan also called on Pakan folk to register for Covid-19 vaccination and to comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the new normal.
