199 cases, six deaths, one new cluster

KOTA KINABALU: The State Health Department reported 199 new Covid-19 cases in Sabah on Friday, sadly, with six deaths recorded in the past 24 hours.

Covid-19 spokesperson Datuk Masidi Manjun in his daily statement said the death cases were reported one each in Sandakan, Kunak, Putatan, Papar, Lahad Datu and Kota Belud.

“One new cluster recorded on June 18, Kluster Pintas-Lingkudau in Keningau and Tambunan, a workplace related infection involving Mukim Lingkudau, Luagan and Patikang in Keningau district, and also Mukim Sunsuron in Tambunan.

“Index case is an executive officer in an electricity supplies company in Keningau, tested positive after a symptomatic screening at Poliklinik TMC on June 15.

“Following the case, close contact screening was conducted on 82 individuals and found two more positive cases on June 16. The following day, six more cases were confirmed. Also positive, one individual in Tambunan on the same day,” he said.

According to preliminary investigation, Masidi said small working space was the cause of the infection.

As of Friday, Sabah recorded a total of 67,177 Covid-19 cases.
