11 new Covid-19 clusters identified

Identifying and testing of close contacts is presently being carried out.

PETALING JAYA: The health ministry has reported 11 new Covid-19 clusters in the last 24 hours.

The clusters are in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Selangor, Kelantan, Penang and Pahang.

The cluster with the largest infection was the Jalan Seng construction site in Kuala Lumpur, with 232 cases.

In a statement, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the cases for the construction site in Titiwangsa were reported on Dec 25.

“Until today, 407 medical swabs had been taken and 232 people were found to be infected,” he added.

The second biggest cluster was Pagar Siput in Kota Tinggi, Johor. The index case was reported on Dec 24, which saw 200 individuals undergoing medical swabs, with 129 testing positive.

The third cluster, called the Subang Plastic cluster, affected the Petaling district and Klang. The first case, involving a plastic factory, was reported on Dec 23 and up till today, 354 individuals had undergone medical swabs, with 111 positive cases.

The fourth cluster, called Halban Cluster, centred in Kota Bahru, was reported in Dec 23. Out of the 99 individuals tested, 29 were positive.

The Lis Putih cluster and Sentosa Residensi cluster in Penang recorded 24 cases and 18 cases each respectively.

The Seragam Chepa cluster in Bachok and Tumpat in Kelantan and the Pagar Bentong cluster in Pahang each recorded 13 cases.

The Jalan Asam cluster in Petaling district and Klang, that started on Dec 19, saw 13 positive cases. The Sungai Redan cluster in Kota Tinggi, Johor, recorded 11 cases. The Semambu cluster in Kuantan recorded 11 cases.
